Sky plans 3D TV shopping centre demos
Posted 9th March 2010 at 3:11pm by Oliver Folkard
Subscribers to Sky's broadband TV deals and the public at large will be able to get a taste of the firm's upcoming 3D broadcast service in the coming months.
The broadband provider has revealed it is previewing the new platform at London's Westfield shopping centre from the end of this week, while it will also be showcased at over 100 other retail outlets in the next 12 months.
As part of the demo, people will be shown content from the recent live broadcast of Arsenal's Premier League match against Manchester United alongside boxing and film from the recent London Fashion week.
Consumers will also be able to sign up to the service, which is expected to launch later this year, at the end of the demonstration.
Sky recently revealed it is set to boost its customer service provision with the launch of a new call centre in Stockport.
The opening of the site is set to create more than 550 jobs.

Did someone say 'gimmicky'? 3D will work for communal or one-off, big events, but it won't take off for home use.
