Switching broadband provider does not need to be a difficult process, it has been claimed.

TalkTalk's Director of Product Management Alex Hollingdale said it is "really easy" to change to a new provider – which can help customers improve customer service and reduce their monthly expenditure.

He explained that TalkTalk provides dedicated support to customers joining the firm from a rival broadband provider.

"All you need to do is place your order with us and we'll take care of the rest," Mr Hollingdale stated.

"If you do need to do anything - which most people don't - then we'll let you know."

He added that TalkTalk sends a welcome pack to each new customer telling them the date their broadband service will go live.

"Once you receive your new modem you'll be able to get going with TalkTalk. You can even keep your old number," Mr Hollingdale stated.

I recently changed my phone from BT to italk and have suddenly realised that they do not provide dialup down the phone line which I have been using to connect to the University from home (to read my emails)for many years (was free evenings and weekends until about March 2010). I am now stuck with italk with a two year contract for my phone and calls - which is proving a good service.

However, they do not do broadband and I could now do with a broadband connection to connect to the internet and University. I have blue tooth on my laptop which I use within the University but have no connections outside, although there are three BT broadbands seen on my computer when the Blue tooth is switched on at home (I assume broadbands that my neighbours are using).

Do you provide a broadband connection only and what is the price per month and does this include connection charges while online - is there a limit to the amount of time one can spend online at any one time? Talk Talk has been recommended to me by one or two people that work in computing within the University.
