Broadband providers offering free laptops as part of an internet package are providing people with a greater opportunity to get online.
For those struggling to cope with costs associated with getting on the internet, independent telecoms analysis firm Arc Chart has suggested that free laptop deals are enabling more people to get connected.
Commenting on Carphone Warehouse's existing AOL broadband deal - which offers a free laptop for customers taking out a two-year contract - the resource notes that the package is particularly useful for those who don't own or need to upgrade their PC or laptop.
"It opens up a new constituency of consumers who have a desire for internet access but for whom the affordability of a PC is beyond their means," the publication continues.
However, it does note that the two-year contract period may put some customers off the deal.
With packages starting from £19.99 per month, the AOL Broadband package offers customers an 8Mbps broadband connection and a 40 GB download allowance, while also including a free wireless router in the deal.
