Virgin Media is trying to tempt customers with a triple-play deal including TV, broadband and phone services this Christmas.

The provider will offer a TV XL package including 145 channels and Setanta Sports, up to 10Mb fixed-line broadband with unlimited downloads (but subject to a fair usage policy) and line rental free for the first two months.

A monthly fee of £33 will be charged thereafter - a VH+ D box will be made available for an added on sum of £75.

Only those signing up before the deadline of November 30th will be eligible for the deal, which will save customers £88 in the first two months.

"Belts will no doubt have been tightened this Christmas so this is a great way to get connected to super-fast broadband and a load of digital TV channels to keep the kids - and yourself - entertained," was the verdict of Broadband Choices' Michael Phillips.
