Connection news

Mobile broadband providers in the UK are to be applauded for the recently-recorded increase in data allowances, but need to quicken up their connection speeds often dictated by area coverage, one expert has suggested.

David Allen of Tech Watch has responded to research results from Tariff Consultancy, which has revealed that the data allowances of mobile broadband deals have doubled on average in a year, up to 3.9GB from 1.8GB.

But Mr Allen went on to say that while the figures are encouraging, it will take more than increased data allowances to fend off the threat posed by fixed-line broadband, which is constantly speeding up.

He commented: "As for the network coverage the industry are working on this too, but they need to be quick because for every step they make to increase coverage, the fixed line broadband providers also make changes to their networks."
