Wireless hardware firm Novatel has revealed a new mobile broadband device.
The pocket-sized MiFi belongs to the new generation of Intelligent Mobile Hotspots and allows multiple users to connect to the internet and access files and software applications.
MiFi products provide Cloud computing solutions so that users can connect to the internet in any location where a normal mobile phone signal is available.
This would allow users to access high-speed internet in moving vehicles, with multiple devices able to use the MiFi connection at any one time.
Peter Leparulo, chairman and chief executive of Novatel Wireless, suggested that the development of MiFi solutions will help to usher in "the next era of the mobile broadband experience".
This will lead to "new wireless solutions and bundles for consumer and enterprise users" he added.
Novatel recently picked up a silver award at the Mobile Star Awards for its Ovation MC727 USB modem. The mobile storage and internet device was praised in the Best Portable Remote Connectivity Gear category.
