Broadband subscribers may be unaware that they could be enjoying a better deal through their current supplier.

That is according to thinkbroadband.com, which has urged customers to check the offers available close to home.

The broadband comparison site has suggested that many Brits may be paying more than they need to for high-speed internet services.

"Check to see if your service provider has a more up-to-date product - if you've been with the same supplier for many years, it's likely that they have better deals and faster services available and often all you have to do is just ask," advised the website.

Before going on to warn: "Beware however that you may enter into a new 12 month or longer contract."

Broadband users were also told to be aware of seemingly tempting discount rates which are in fact short-term reductions preceding more expensive monthly payments.
