Tariam UK has made a series of updates to its Homenet product - an Ethernet-based satellite broadband connection for domestic users.

The satellite operator is now offering a two-way service of up to 2Mb download and 384Kb upload from £39.99 per month including VAT.

It has various features such as quick, low-cost installation and plug and play connectivity, as well as a Europe-wide availability.

Based on Tooway, a product launched last month by Eutelsat, it is ideal for consumers but will also be suitable for home offices and small firms that have up to three users.

According to Tariam, the file transfer speeds of its Homenet service are "up to 30 times faster than dial-up and up to four times faster than many ordinary ADSL connections".

Consumers who wish to subscribe to the service must make sure they choose the package that is best suited to their usage requirements, the ISP advised.

There are four packages available, the most expensive being the 6G Extra, which costs £129.99 a month.

Set up for Homenet costs £759.97 including VAT and covers hardware, delivery and installation.
