T-Mobile has once again been named the UK’s top mobile broadband provider in independent tests, garnering particular praise for the fast web browsing experience it offers and quick upload speeds.
The mobile broadband supplier outperformed all other UK mobile operators in a survey conducted by P3 Solutions which measured the standard of service over the first quarter of 2009. T-Mobile’s latest success in the quarterly report marks the third time in a row that it has come out on top.
Areas where T-Mobile particularly excelled were web browsing speed and the reliability of its e-mail services, where it was placed top. Meanwhile, a strong showing was also recorded in tests of upload speeds. These were found to be some 44 per cent faster than the closet competitor.
Emin Gurdenli, chief technology officer at T-Mobile UK, said: “The fact that we have come out top for three quarters in a row shows this approach is yielding real benefits to customers in terms of improved network performance and reliability.
“This has been achieved at a time of unprecedented growth in the number of our mobile broadband customers, which has driven an increase in total data traffic of more than 300 per cent since mobile broadband hit the market in late 2007.”
P3 Solutions testing methods measure network performance by using a series of everyday applications and visiting some of the most popular websites. The company also studies the length of time it takes to download a 3MB file and upload a 1MB file as well as e-mail performance with a 500KB attachment.
T-Mobile’s poll-topping performance comes soon after similarly impressive results in a You Gov survey. This saw the broadband supplier ranked first in six customer satisfaction measures, including network coverage.
