A survey is to be carried out in Devon in order to find out what problems businesses and consumers have with their broadband connections.
The survey will be conducted by Devon County Council and is designed to determine what issues are affecting broadband users in terms of speed and reliability, This is the Westcountry reported.
Speaking to the website, Bob Page, Managing Director of local company Tarpaflex, welcomed the news.
He said that his firm relies on a satellite connection that provides a means to an end, but in the long term something which delivers better access will be necessary.
He stressed that businesses in the region need to have "reliable internet access" in order to succeed commercially.
"Far better would it be for rurally-based businesses like ours to have decent broadband with internet access that would allow them to operate efficiently and to compete effectively," Mr Page added.
