Ofcom has published a new guide aimed at helping customers who are looking for a new broadband service.

Entitled Choosing Your Broadband Service, the three-page consumer guide covers the different types of service available and the prices involved.

It explains that consumers will have to pay a regular subscription fee as well as a one-off instalment charge.

The leaflet goes on to describe usage limits and how "many broadband packages have a fixed amount of data that you can use every month".

It also discusses speeds and how this can have an impact on what users can do online with their connection.

Announcing the guide on its official website, Ofcom said: "We've ... put together a guide on what to consider when signing up for a broadband deal.

"It explains how a range of factors such as price, availability and quality of customer service need to be considered when making your choice."
