Consumers must consider broadband speed as an important issue when selecting an internet provider, it has been reported.
According to Wales Online, each individual user or company has its own specific set of requirements, and depending on location, some broadband providers may be equipped to provide a superior service than their rivals.
The news provider commented that if a consumer desires web access simply to send emails and surf the odd site, speed is not a huge issue.
However, for those who are likely to play games, watch videos or download large files, a fast connection is a practical must.
"You can check your broadband speed in your area before you make your choice," Wales Online stated.
"Broadband speeds often depend on how many people in your local area are online at the same time - more users can mean slower speeds, depending on the provider."
The news provider said it may be worth speaking with neighbours to assess their experiences with particular firms.
Forrester Research principal analyst Ian Fogg recently claimed that the majority of consumers are satisfied with their current web connections.
