The plans, dubbed Panther, Dolphin and Racoon, have been on offer to the Orange network’s mobile phone subscribers for some time. However, as part of a refresh of its mobile broadband product range, these are now also options for its broadband dongle customers.

In a new development in the mobile broadband sector, Orange’s Dolphin tariff allows customers the chance to nominate a time of day during which they can enjoy unlimited surfing without eating into their monthly allowance.

Options for timeslots include 8am-9am, 12-1pm, 4pm-5pm or 10pm-11pm. On top of this, for £15 per month, Dolphin subscribers are entitled to 3GB of data per month on an 18 month contract or 2GB of data per month on a 1 month rolling contract.

According to Orange, the 'Happy Hour' feature makes Dolphin “perfect for customers that use the internet regularly to keep in touch with friends and family via email or via social networking sites for those important pokes and tweets”.

Starting at £25 per month, the Panther plan is aimed at heavier web users. Consequently, it is available either with a 10GB or unlimited usage options and is expected to be in demand with web users who use a dongle as their primary internet connection.

Finally, light users are catered for by Orange’s Racoon plan. This starts from a wallet-friendly £5 per month.

All three new mobile broadband deals feature a free Huawei E1752 dongle. Alternatively, takers can pay £20 for the broadband provider's exclusive Option 515M white dongle, which is supplied with a complimentary 8GB memory card while stocks last.

A number of mobile broadband laptops options are also on offer on select Panther, Dolphin and Racoon plans for an additional monthly charge of between £15 and £20 per month. Laptops available are the Asus 1005HGO netbook and the Compaq CQ61 full-size notebook.

Alex Buttle, Marketing Director at Top 10 Broadband, said: “Orange’s introduction of a happy hour for unlimited browsing offers a brilliant way for people to make the most of mobile web access without incurring excess charges or eating into their monthly usage.

“We’re fully behind this innovation and we’re forecasting that it could be a sign of things to come in the mobile broadband sector.”

Orange mobile broadband customers can expect connection speeds of up to 7.2Mb. In the latest YouGov survey, the supplier was voted top for overall broadband service quality and was also named the UK's best network.
