Visitors to property website Rightmove will soon be able to check the broadband speeds achievable at their potential new home, it has been reported.

The firm is believed to be in dialogue with internet service provider BT over plans to list the downloading capacity of each of its one million listed properties.

Rightmove is hoping to detail broadband speeds alongside information such as the number of bedrooms, and whether the property has a garden or other additional facilities.

A company spokesperson said that services such as super-fast broadband "obviously interest" Rightmove, but plans are as yet at an early stage.

"We have recently looked into how [broadband] can benefit us, although we are not currently in any form of partnership with BT," the spokesperson stated.

The government has pledged to deliver a minimum of 2Mb broadband to the majority of UK households by 2015.
