Virgin Media has launched an exclusive new offer enabling broadband customers to take advantage of the Spotify music streaming service.
Subscribers to a range of Virgin Media broadband bundles will be able to enjoy a free Spotify Premium for the first six months of their contract.
Back in July, Spotify signed an exclusive deal with the broadband provider, enabling the service to be included as part of its internet, home phone and TV packages.
A Spotify app has been built into TiVo, Virgin Media's internet-connected TV set-top box, offering another option for music fans downloading content from the web.
Andreas Liffgarden, Director of Business Development at Spotify, said that by teaming up with Virgin Media, the firm was giving millions more people across the UK the chance to enjoy the world's music at their fingertips.
This will be the case however they choose to listen to it - be that on their computer, mobile, or through their TV, he claimed.
The six months' free Spotify offer will apply to any customer taking standalone broadband of 30Mb (XL) and above, and also any households signing up for a 30Mb+ broadband package.
Triple-play broadband bundles, featuring a combination of internet, phone, TV and music services, will also be included providing the consumer signs up for at least 30Mb download speeds.
However, dual-play TV packages which do not include broadband services are not included in the offer.
Existing Virgin Media customers upgrading from a 10Mb to a 30Mb package or above will also be eligible to receive a free Spotify subscription.
But those who are already receiving 30Mb+ services do not qualify.
Ernest Doku, technology expert at uSwitch, said: "This offer represents great value and a compelling hook for new Virgin Media subscribers, enabling them to enjoy Spotify across a range of services.
"From unlimited access to millions of songs on home computers with their new broadband connection to through their television with a forthcoming application for TiVo and even receiving music on the go via Virgin Mobile, this deal enables new sign-ups to really make the most of their package.
"Offering Spotify free for six months will certainly increase awareness and give a gentle introduction to those far less familiar with services such as streaming music services, precisely the people who will appreciate the freedom of choice around whether or not to become paid subscribers once the trial period ends."
Customers have been given several months to take advantage of the offer, which begins today (Tuesday November 1st 2011).
Virgin Media and Spotify are running the broadband deal until March 31st 2012, meaning UK households have plenty of time to make their minds up.
