Connection news

Be Broadband is urging gamers to ensure they have the best possible home broadband connection in time for the long winter months.

"With summer's race well and truly run, the dark evenings are telling us to retreat to the comfort of our homes and bask in the warm glow of our TVs and computers," the firm stated.

The broadband provider said that, in light of an exciting gaming calendar in 2012-13, this "couldn’t have happened at a better time".

Next month's launch of the Nintendo's Wii U - a next-generation console - is one of a number of eagerly-awaited events, Be Broadband suggested.

"With the console manufacturers and games developers having shown their hands at this summer’s E3 [Electronic Entertainment Expo], it’s time to ask yourself if your home broadband set-up is ready for the challenge of facilitating the exciting games and entertainment forecasted at the spectacular event," the firm added.

Be Broadband offers three broadband packages - Be Value, Be Unlimited and Be Pro - which come with the option of basic landline, evening and weekend calls or anytime calls.

The latter, Be Pro, may be most suitable for gamers - it offers up to 16Mb download speeds and up to 1.9Mb uploads with an unlimited usage allowance.
