EE news

Latest mobile broadband speeds tests in Sheffield have indicated that EE remains the fastest service provider in the South Yorkshire city.

Research conducted by RootMetrics - which carried out 30,000 speed tests across Sheffield - found that EE's network achieved average download speeds of 14.9Mb and upload speeds of 9.4Mb.

These results were almost 6Mb faster for downloads than any other mobile operator tested.

However, RootMetrics found that EE's average upload speeds fell from 12Mb - when the last tests were conducted in June 2013 - to 9.4Mb.

And rival mobile broadband providers O2 and Vodafone have significantly narrowed the speed gap since launching their own 4G networks in the summer.

According to RootMetrics, the launch of O2 4G services in Sheffield has boosted average download speeds from 3.2Mb to 8.2Mb, and average uploads from 1.5Mb to 4.9Mb.

Vodafone’s average download speed jumped from 2.9 Mb to 6.5 Mb, while upload speeds increased from 1.1 Mb to 3.7 Mb.
