Most consumers prioritise affordability when selecting a TV streaming provider, a study has indicated.
Research conducted by YouView indicated that 52 per cent of broadband-enabled TV customers base their decision to subscribe on cost.
TV show choice (31 per cent) and programme quality (30 per cent) are among the other key influencers for people who watch content via a broadband connection.
YouView found that TV streaming customers are increasingly keen to take advantage of on-demand television, which allows programmes to be viewed at any time.
Ten per cent of respondents watch between five and ten hours of on-demand TV each week, while 13 per cent enjoy between five and ten hours of catch-up programming.
Susie Buckridge, Director of Product at YouView, claimed there "has never been a greater choice of TV available to watch and more ways to watch it".
"It’s interesting to see how viewers are clearing a path through the maze of shows being aired," she stated.
Ms Buckridge said the fact that affordability and programme choice are "most important" when choosing a TV streaming service "resonates for YouView customers".
The service offers Freeview channels alongside catch-up TV services and on-demand content.
