TalkTalk TV has unveiled a brand new app, which gives viewers the chance to star in their own unique music video.

The YouView-based television service - which sponsors ITV's 'The X Factor' - is launching the TalkTalk Mix Off app to get fans closer to the Saturday night talent show.

After selecting their track, video style and custom setting, users are able to record their vocal and dance performance, and then mix it up - adding others to their clip if they want.

The app - which will be available to download from Saturday August 30th via the Apple App Store and Google play - will have a variety of filters and graphic effects.

This means every home-made music video will have its own unique look and feel.

Fans who create the best clips will have the chance to see themselves on TV, during TalkTalk TV’s sponsorship bumpers.

These will appear at the beginning and end of commercial breaks, during each airing of 'The X Factor'.

Olivia Streatfeild, TalkTalk's Commercial Director, said customers "love" the exclusive access they get to 'The X Factor' and the chance of being on TV is "hugely exciting" for many.

"That's why user-generated videos are at the heart of this year’s campaign," she stated.

"We want to get everyone involved, whether it’s the whole family, neighbours, and even pets."

Ms Streatfeild said she "can't wait" for TalkTalk homes to come together and enjoy "one of the best shows on TV" even more.

2014 marks the sixth consecutive year of TalkTalk's sponsorship of 'The X Factor', which is boosted this year by the return of music mogul Simon Cowell and pop princess Cheryl Cole - now known as Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.

The long-running sponsorship deal sees TalkTalk's TV, broadband, mobile and home phone customers given the chance to win tickets to the live series final.
