TalkTalk subscribers are taking advantage of Talk2Go to make calls to friends and family around the world, it has been revealed.
Tristia Harrison, Managing Director for Consumer at the TV, home phone, mobile and broadband provider, explained that almost a quarter of all calls made using the new app - which launched in December 2014 - are to landlines or mobile phones overseas.
She noted that consumers are using International or Global call boosts - in conjunction with Talk2Go - to keep in touch with their overseas relations and contacts.
So far, the top five Talk2Go calling destinations have been the UK, Pakistan, Spain, India and the US, Ms Harrison revealed.
She claimed that Talk2Go - which allows TalkTalk customers to make and receive landline calls using their mobile devices - is "taking the hassle and expense out of staying in touch with friends and family".
"Customers can use their inclusive minutes just like at home, and add calling boosts like our £7.50 a month Anytime UK Calls Boost or our £5 a month International Calls Boost, including unlimited calls to 58 destinations, including the US, Australia and Europe," Ms Harrison said.
She added that, because the app works over Wi-Fi, or 3G or 4G mobile data, customers no longer have to stay in and make landline calls to people based abroad.
"Users can even take their incoming landline calls on their mobile when they go out; they just need to enable our unique 'Follow Me' feature," Ms Harrison explained.
TalkTalk's home phone boosts can be taken out flexibly, one month at a time, with consumers under no pressure to sign up on a long term basis.
If TalkTalk subscribers want inclusive anytime or international calls for a short period of time - even just a single month - they have this option.
