virgin media brick lane

Virgin Media has reached the halfway point in its latest broadband infrastructure rollout in East London.

The cable operator has brought another 50,000 homes within reach of its next-generation network, with residents in East Ham, Stratford, Bow, Poplar and Stepney now able to access the firm's telecoms services.

When complete, the project will have passed 100,000 homes in this part of the capital, greatly increasing the number of potential Virgin Media subscribers in London.

In order to celebrate the latest project milestone, the broadband provider has commissioned the world’s fastest henna artist, Ash Kumar, to give one of its engineering vans a makeover.

Neil Bartholomew, Executive Director of Virgin Media, said working with Ash on the vehicle makeover was "fantastic" for the firm.

He said the stunt helped to raise awareness of the importance of better access to broadband and the digital world.

"Thousands more homes across East London are now able to benefit for the first time from the UK’s fastest broadband," Mr Bartholomew stated.
