Sky and TalkTalk have launched a new website to promote their soon-to-launch 1Gb broadband service in York.

The home page, which features an image of an alien spacecraft - or UFO - says "Ultra Fibre Optic has landed".

According to the broadband providers, who have been working with CityFibre on the new network, speeds one hundred times faster than standard broadband will be available to homes and businesses in York.

This will allow subscribers to "wait less" and "do more of what you love online", Sky and TalkTalk stated.

The broadband providers are inviting potential customers to register their interest for the 'UFO' service, which is expected to launch in the coming months.

"Enter your details and we’ll let you know when our mission is on its way," the website states.

It says subscribers will be able to download 3GB HD movies in less than 30 seconds, using the ultra-fast broadband network.
