BT has announced that new channel AMC Global is to launch for the first time in the UK on August 28th and will be exclusively available to BT TV customers.

The launch will see AMC bring a host of big name dramas to BT customers, although the biggest draw is likely to be Fear the Walking Dead, a spin-off series spawned out of the hugely successful The Walking Dead, which has proved a big hit with UK audiences.

BT will be the only provider to broadcast AMC, as well as acclaimed films from some the world’s most popular film libraries.

Fear the Walking Dead will hit British screens on Monday 31st August at 9:00 pm, while the acclaimed drama Rectify will have its UK debut on the channel on Tuesday 1st September at 9:00 pm.

Delia Bushell, Managing Director, BT TV & BT Sport, said: “We’re delighted that our viewers will be able to experience the start of the zombie apocalypse when AMC’s ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ debuts exclusively to BT customers.

“We’re only a few weeks away from one of television’s most compelling new dramas, and we’re looking forward to sharing AMC’s outstanding selection of series and films with our customers.”

AMC's debut in the UK comes on the back of it being launched outside North America for the first time last year.

The channel now reaches audiences in more than 125 countries and territories across Europe, South America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

Bruce Tuchman, President of AMC and Sundance Channel Global, hailed the arrival in the UK as something of a milestone for the network, particularly with the launch of Fear the Walking Dead.

He added: “There is a tremendous level of excitement around the debut of Fear the Walking Dead, and we’re looking forward to showcasing the series exclusively for UK audiences on AMC from BT."
