The quality of broadband hardware is one of the most important considerations for customers, a new study has revealed.
Research among ISPreview's readership found that just over half (55%) of respondents had hardware such as routers included as part of their broadband bundle.
A further 38.4% said the quality of hardware was “very important” when choosing a provider.
However, the survey found that the most important feature of a broadband bundle is speed, with support for 5GHz being particularly sought after.
Just over half (50.8%) said fast Wi-Fi speeds were important, followed by Gigabit LAN Ports (26.2%) and advanced admin UI (14.1%).
ISPreview claims the figures show that many providers could be losing out on valuable business if they do not properly advertise the hardware that comes with their bundles or otherwise fail to offer a router that is competitive compared to rival companies.
Many providers currently offer a budget device, with customers often having to look elsewhere for more capable pieces of kit.
The site claims consumers are subsequently paying greater attention to the capability of bundled hardware when making their decisions.
