BT has launched a new version of the My BT app, delivering an updated look and extra functions to help customers manage their accounts.
Available to download now from Google Play and the App Store, the application features a redesigned home screen and navigation system intended to make it easier for users to find the features they need.
The update also includes support for BT Plus, the provider's new service designed to offer maximum connectivity at home and on the go by combining fibre broadband and 4G.
Particular highlights of the enhanced app include the new 'More' menu, where customers can complete tasks such as testing their broadband speed and tracking orders.
The order-tracking tool could make people's lives easier by allowing them to check the time of engineer appointments or confirm when a newly ordered service will arrive or be activated.
There is also an option to change appointments and deliveries to more convenient times.
In the billing section of the app, BT subscribers can view details of their next bill and download it as a PDF. Those with payment card details saved to their account will be able to select the card they want to pay with.
Customers can also keep up to date with usage of their landline, broadband, TV and mobile services before or since their last bill. Practical applications of this function include viewing breakdowns of telephone calls made outside regular calling plans and checking remaining mobile data allowances in any given month.
The upgraded My BT app could prove particularly useful for troubleshooting, with options for consumers to restart their Home Hub remotely, view FAQs, check the service status in their area and receive notifications when a fault occurs.
Provided the user has a Wi-Fi or mobile data connection on their phone or tablet, the app will be accessible anywhere in the world.
