BT Sport combines live Premier League football with coverage of the Aviva Premiership rugby, MotoGP, UFC and action from all the top European football leagues.
BT Sport's major selling point compared with some rival sports broadcasters is that it's completely free to BT broadband customers.
BT's offering consists of four channels: BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2, BT Sport 3 and BT Sport ESPN. These are free to all BT broadband customers.
However, there is one caveat to bear in mind: If broadband is the only BT service you subscribe to, you’ll only be able to watch BT Sport for free on your desktop or laptop computer, or on a tablet or smartphone. You won't be able to watch BT Sport on your TV unless you pay to add it to your current package.
If you want to enjoy BT Sport for free on your TV, you’ll need to be a BT TV customer, too, with a YouView set-top box.
The jewel in the crown of BT Sport’s broadcast schedule is almost certainly the 38 exclusively live Barclay's Premier League matches it broadcasts per season (including 18 of some of the most in-demand fixtures).
Other highlights include:
Every game live from the Aviva Premiership rugby
30 live Scottish Premier League games every season
Live coverage of up to 176 UEFA Europa League matches
100 hours of Red Bull Programming, including live coverage of Red Bull X-Fighters, Red Bull Crashed Ice and Red Bull Cliff Diving
Every MotoGP race in 2014
21 global tennis tournaments, including the WTA Tour Championships
Top-flight football from Italy, Germany, France, Brazil and the US
The line-up of programming on BT sports channels is enviable — but it’s not quite as extensive as Sky Sports.
Sky Sports features a massive range of marquee sports events across six channels (Sky Sports 1-5 and the Sky F1 channel), as well as a dedicated sports news channel.
However, what is evident is that there’s a significant difference in price. While BT Sport is free to BT customers, subscribing to Sky Sports costs extra.
Almost every TV provider — including Sky, Virgin Media and TalkTalk — offers subscriptions BT Sport for an additional charge per month.
BT Sport offers HD versions of its channels to enjoy on HD televisions. Adding these to your package will incur an additional charge.
The free BT Sport app lets you watch BT Sport on mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, while you're on the go. The app is free to download for BT broadband customers.
3G, 4G and Wi-Fi connections can all be used with the BT Sport app.
