Samsung has showcased a new phone/tablet hybrid running Google's Android platform, as it looks to challenge the iPad and Dell in the burgeoning market for slates.
Samsung's South African arm used Twitter to break the news of the planned tablet device and it suggests that a seven inch touchscreen display and the Android operating system will be key components.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab will use the TouchWIZ interface sitting on top of Android and will house a forward facing VGA camera for video calling and a 3.5mm headphone socket for media playback.
The South Korean company is also allegedly looking into creating a range of tablet computers which have different screen sizes and prices to appeal to a wide audience.
