Tech types who have pre-ordered the Samsung Galaxy S3 on Vodafone could face a wait to get their hands on the year’s most-wanted smartie, the carrier has advised.
Citing “shipping delays”, Voda has warned that consumers who got their order in for the white 32GB edition and 16GB and 32GB versions in blue are unlikely to get their handsets on the official street date of May 30th.
A Vodafone spokesman told Pocket-Lint: "All customers who have pre-ordered the white 16GB version of the Samsung Galaxy S III should expect to receive their new phone on the UK launch date, 30 May.
"However, we’ve been advised of shipping delays for the 32GB marble white and the 16 and 32GB pebble blue versions."
He added: "We’re working closely with Samsung to ensure devices reach our customers as soon as possible and will be contacting them directly to advise them on their order’s progress."
It is not clear if the delay is related to claims of stock shortages of the blue edition. These are purported to have arisen when manufacturing problems forced Samsung to scrap 600,000 plastic backplates.
Rival UK carriers have yet to announce delivery problems with pre-ordered Samsung Galaxy S3 handsets. But we’re trying to establish if the matter is more widespread right now, so keep ‘em peeled for more info.
