The Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini is coming to O2, the carrier has confirmed.
Samsung’s more compact, less lavishly specc’d take on its current-gen blockbuster has been added to O2’s ‘coming soon’ handsets web page, ahead of its UK street date early next month.
Alas, the network isn’t giving anything away about the S3’s asking price. But assuming O2’s prices are broadly in line with those for other carriers already announced via Phones4U, you can expect to pick it up for free from about £25 per month over a two-year contract.
The S3 Mini differs from its older, bigger brother chiefly by swapping the standard S3’s 4.8-inch touchscreen for a cheaper-to-produce four-inch display and runs Android 4.1 out of the box instead of the older 4.0 edition of Google’s OS.
It also features a more modest dual-core processor in place of a none-more-beefy quad-core model and a five megapixel camera rather than eight megapixels.
Elsewhere, though, it’s very much business as usual. That means you get Samsung’s neat Android software tweaks, such as S-Voice and SmartScreen, a front-facing camera and the nature-inspired curves that made the S3 such a hit with design fans.
