The Samsung Galaxy S3 is 2012’s best phone, according to T3 magazine, marking the second consecutive win for a flagship smartphone in Samsung’s Galaxy range.
The S3 triumphed in a field that included the iPhone 4S, HTC One X, Sony Xperia S, Nokia Lumia 900 and the vanilla Android charms of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Apple’s iPhone 5, which dropped in September, launched too late to be included.
Samsung has now scooped what is arguably the gadget gurus’ top gong for two years in a row, after the Galaxy S2 picked the same prize last year.
T3 stated: “A lot was expected of the Samsung Galaxy S3 and anticipation reached iPhone-level hysteria leading in to the eventual launch in May.
“Not only is the S3 a worthy successor to the S2, it eclipses it in every way imaginable.”
Other big winners on the night included Asus, which belied its relatively unfashionable status to grab Best Device and Best tablet for the Google Nexus 7 – a budget Android tablet that Asus manufactured on the search giant’s behalf.
Apple’s sole award, meanwhile, was for Work Gadget of the Year for the iPhone 4S.
