Samsung will not release a Galaxy S6 Edge edition in 2015, despite rumours last week suggesting the company was priming a curved screen version of its handset.
Sam Mobile, which initially broke the story about the Galaxy S6 Edge, has rowed back on its earlier claims. It says that while Samsung is preparing two versions of its Galaxy S6, neither packs a curved screen.
The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge was one of this year’s most talked about gadgets, a handset which curved on one side to deliver notifications and apps while the device was laid on its side. A UK release for that phone is not forthcoming.
Samsung’s Galaxy S6 has been leaked extensively in the past week. The new flagship phone is said to have a 5.5–inch quad HD screen, latest Qualcomm processor, Android Lollipop and a 20 megapixel camera. It’s expected to hit shelves in the first part of 2015.
Samsung had promised that it would cut the number of smartphone variations it makes in order to stop a decline in sales and profits. But it seems that S6 will still be getting that treatment, suggesting Samsung is yet to learn its lesson.
