Samsung unveils new Galaxy J Series

Samsung has unveiled a pair of new Galaxy J Series budget smartphones, both of which are due to go on sale in July.

The Galaxy J5 will feature an all-metal frame, a full HD super AMOLED screen and front and rear cameras each featuring a 13-megapixel sensor.

The handset will also include microSD support in order to boost storage by up to 256GB.

The Galaxy J3 is a pared down take on the J5, with 16GB of storage, 2GB of RAM, with the same 13-megapixel cameras.

It also features Samsung Knox, the security platform that has become a cornerstone of pricier phones such as the warmly received Galaxy S8.

While Samsung says that the J5 and J3 will be available ‘at an ultra-accessible price point’ it hasn’t yet said exactly how much.

Previous models indicate they should cost around £120 SIM–free.

The launch is likely to be Samsung’s last before it unveils the Galaxy Note 8, which is likely to arrive at the end of August.

That device will be its newest flagship, aimed at taking on Apple’s upcoming iPhone 8.
