Android Pie might be the talk of mobile town at the moment, but plenty of phones haven’t even had a taste of its predecessor yet. Thankfully, that’s about to change for these 12 Samsung phones.
A tranche of budget Samsung devices will finally be getting the Android 8.1 Oreo update before the end of March 2019.
These devices are the Galaxy J7 Neo (December 2018), Galaxy A9 Pro 2016 (January 2019), Galaxy C7 Pro (January 2019), Galaxy C9 Pro (January 2019), Galaxy J2 2018 (January 2019), Galaxy J7 2018 (January 2019), Galaxy J7 2017 (January 2019), Galaxy On5 2017 (January 2019), Galaxy On7 2016 (January 2019), Galaxy Tab A 2017 (January 2019), Galaxy J7 Max (February 2019) and Galaxy J7 2016 (March 2019).
Android Oreo came out just over a year ago. Obviously budget devices are never the first to receive the latest version of the Android operating system, but still, it shows just how slow Android updates can be to reach certain handsets.
Even the latest handsets like the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 are unlikely to receive Android Pie until early next year. But Google’s upcoming Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL should ship with it onboard.
