Cheltenham & Gloucester is now part of the TSB Bank and branches have all been transferred to TSB. As such, new Cheltenham and Gloucester mortgages are no longer available and all existing mortgage products have been taken over by Lloyds TSB plc.
YOUR HOME MAY BE REPOSSESSED IF YOU DO NOT KEEP UP REPAYMENTS ON YOUR MORTGAGE
The Cheltenham & Gloucester Building Society dates back to 1850 when it was formed to help solve a housing crisis in Cheltenham. In those days it was named the Cheltenham & Gloucester Permanent Mutual Building & Investment Association and was one of many mutual societies formed to help working class people save money and buy land and homes.
In the early days the Cheltenham & Gloucester met every month to approve deposits and mortgages, but as the decades passed, the society grew steadily and became increasingly prosperous. The society continued to expand and by the 1980s, it had more than 100 branches across the UK. In 1997, the C&G members voted to accept an offer from Lloyds Bank and the society became part of the Lloyds Banking Group.
By 2007 the Cheltenham & Gloucester Building Society had been restructured and many of its branches were closed. TSB Bank took over C&G mortgages, but C&G continued to administer them and C&G customers were still able to access their mortgage accounts via branches of Lloyds TSB.
C&G has since been re-branded as part of the TSB Bank and Cheltenham & Gloucester branches have all been transferred to TSB. As such, new Cheltenham and Gloucester mortgages are no longer available and all existing mortgage products have been taken over by Lloyds TSB plc.
New Cheltenham & Gloucester mortgages are serviced by Lloyds TSB. New and existing customers can still apply for a Cheltenham & Gloucester mortgage, but you will be directed to Lloyds TSB products. New customers can find out more about C&G mortgages by visiting any Lloyds TSB branch or calling the freephone Lloyds TSB telephone helpline.
Existing Cheltenham & Gloucester mortgage customers should have been notified if their accounts were transferred to the TSB Bank, but for those whose mortgages remain with C&G, contact details are available on the C&G website.
