Netflix has signed up social media personality and entrepreneur Cameron Dallas to star in an unscripted original series.
The as-yet-untitled series will follow Dallas and his close circle of friends and family as he tries to take his career to the next level. But we're promised that it's "not all selfies and Vine videos, as the series explores the stark contrast between his very public online persona and who he is in his personal life".
The 21-year-old Dallas rose to fame on social networking app Vine, on which he posted videos of himself playing pranks on his friends and family. He has previously starred in a film called 'Expelled', which has a rating of five out of 10 on IMDB. He has also starred in two episodes of thriller TV series 'American Odyssey' on NBC, and another film called 'The Outfield'.
He also works as a model.
Let's hope this proves to be a true representation of life as a social media phenomenon, and not just a cheap cash-in on someone's new-found fame. Last year, Essena O'Neill spoke out about the ugly truth about life in the social media limelight. We'll have to wait and see if this series if similarly revealing.
