TalkTalk viewers will lose a bunch of channels at the end of this month as the firm makes way for its new Film Club on-demand service.
Six channels are for the chop. These are: Discovery Channel, Discovery Home & Health, Animal Planet, TLC, Sony TV Asia and Star Plus.
TalkTalk TV's chief operating officer Aleks Habdank explained this was in customers' best interests. "To ensure we provide the best entertainment we regularly review all our channels, and sometimes need to remove some as well as add new ones," he said.
So what of the new Film Club service? It's still very hush hush at the moment, but it will include a rotating library of 20 films. Five films will join the service every week as another five leave.
Launch titles are yet to be confirmed. But according to Recombu, it'll make good use of the content partnerships TalkTalk inherited when it bought film streaming service Blinkbox.
In other words, there will be a few recent blockbusters every month, but nothing to threaten the TalkTalk TV Store (which is a rebadged Blinkbox).
The TalkTalk Film Club will launch on June 30th. We'll bring you more news as we get it.
