Syfy has renewed its vampire series 'Van Helsing', just four episodes into series one. The second, 13-episode series will start production in 2017.
"We have a wonderful and terrifying road ahead planned for Vanessa, her allies and her enemies," said Neil LaBute, writer/showrunner on 'Van Helsing'. "I think this is a world and a story that can be sustained for many years and I am inspired to do so thanks to Syfy's obvious trust and commitment in the storytellers, cast and crew."
The series is set in the aftermath of a volcanic eruption – it sees vampires rise up to take over America. Only one person stands in their way – Vanessa Van Helsing (played by Kelly Overton), a descendant of the legendary line of vampire hunters. She awakens from a three-year coma to discover that she is not only immune to the vamps, but she can also make them human again.
It also stars Jonathan Scarfe, Christopher Heyerdahl, David Cubitt and Vincent Gale.
