Customers searching for a dongle to connect to the internet via mobile broadband will do well to find a device which has a string-attached cap, one expert has suggested.
Barry Collins of PC Pro has highlighted the nuisance that USB modem stick caps can be, especially when they have a tendency to go missing.
For that reason Mr Collins has endorsed the string-attached caps marketed by providers such as BT, as opposed to the caps supplied by companies such as O2.
He said: "Something as innocuous as a cap retainer might sound utterly trivial, but I've lost count of the amount of times I've ended up on my hands and knees, picking my way through the half-eaten bag of Doritos and discarded newspapers under the train table, trying to find the AWOL O2 cap."
In August this year, Ofcom reported that the sales of dongles in the UK had risen to 133,000 a month by June.
