British broadband provider IDNet has plans afoot for a new, faster broadband service, it has been revealed.

From November, customers will be able to enjoy up to 24Mb on an (ADSL2+) connection, reports ISPreview.

New and existing customers will be free to enjoy the upgrade should their BT Exchange be upgraded to the 21st Century Network.

IDNet director Simon Davies told ISPreview: "The main benefit for the consumer is that usage allowances will probably increase and prices may come down a bit too.

"ISPs will need to invest, as always, to keep capacity available but if the retail prices are sustainable then the investment should be possible."

By next spring, BT aim to have upgraded 40 per cent of Exchanges to the 21st Century Network.
