Research firm Point Topic is one of the parties involved with the setting up of a website which focuses on broadband coverage in different UK regions.

In collaboration with intelligence company Gavurin, the web address has been set up to give a clearer picture of the speeds towns and cities are able to access.

Data has been broken down into three separate categories – one for speeds below 2Mb, 2Mb to 8Mb and finally those exceeding 8Mb.

Oliver Johnson, Point Topic's chief executive, said that the resource is "powerful, flexible, accessible and offering access to information at a glance that can easily get washed away if you're crawling through lines of data on a spreadsheet".

"It gives a glimpse of how much information we already have, and a good understanding of where you start is essential to completing any journey."

Although the website is being freshly-launched, Point Topic has been publishing its BroadBand Layer since 2005.
