Many small firms in the UK have revealed that their home broadband connection doubles up as a tool for business use.
The finding was made by Pipex, which quizzed British companies over their use of broadband internet services.
It was found that some 79 per cent of those questioned use their home broadband for business affairs.
Furthermore, 55 per cent indicated that they actually worked more productively when at home rather than the office.
"The research clearly shows that broadband is a vital business tool and with such easy access, the office may no longer be the preferred working environment," was the assessment of Lance Spencer, Pipex's product and marketing director.
"Working from home can be just as effective, however, home broadband tends to be consumer grade and does not come with the features and support of a dedicated business package."
