UK internet service provider (ISP) SmithMedia has introduced a new unlimited local loop unbundling broadband package, it has been reported.

The broadband provider, formerly known as VTL Internet, is making the deal available for £19.99 a month in areas where sufficient network coverage exists.

In other locations, SmithMedia is offering alternative broadband deals to consumers, reports ISPreview.

Clive Smith, Director at the ISP, said that after weeks of configuring its network ordering platform and support systems, the firm is now providing customers with a smooth ordering portal to use.

"Our 24/7 support department is also now online giving us a huge advantage over other providers," he stated.

"We feel that technical support is vital within the ISP industry and have brought our 24-hour support department online to give our customers that extra peace of mind."

Last week, Paul Lawton, Managing Director of TalkTalk's business division Opal, claimed that faster broadband speeds are creating a number of opportunities for home-based companies.
