Leading broadband providers including O2 and Virgin Media have been nominated for prizes at this year's Internet Service Providers' Association (ISPA) Awards.

The two companies are set to compete with Be Broadband, Karoo and NewNet in the Best Consumer Fixed Broadband category, while they are also both up for the Best Consumer Customer Service ISP prize.

O2 is also set to do battle with Orange UK, Vodafone and Freedom4 WiFi in the Best Mobile Broadband category.

Nicholas Lansman, Secretary General of the ISPA, said the nominees were selected through both technical testing and judging.

He added: "I would like to congratulate all of the finalists and look forward to welcoming them to the awards gala dinner ceremony, which looks like being one of our biggest to date."

O2's nominations have come after the firm announced plans to launch a £5 million advertising campaign to promote its broadband and phone deals.
