Broadband provider Virgin Media has launched an initiative to seek out the best young film critic in the UK.

The company has teamed up with movie guru James King to find a youngster aged between 13 and 19 to join the expert judging panel which is selecting the winner of the third Virgin Media Shorts competition.

As well as enjoying a trip to London to attend the prize-giving ceremony, the winning critic will also be able to meet the judging panel – which includes Moon director Duncan Jones and actress Thandie Newton.

Discussing the search, King said the competition would "open the door to a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity" for one lucky youngster.

The deadline for entries into the initiative is June 30th.

Details about the scheme have come after Virgin Media joined forces with model Abbey Clancy to launch on-demand TV content designed to cater those who do not like football during the upcoming World Cup.
