Businesses view broadband services as a vital tool which can help them improve their success, according to a new study.

Research by Virgin Media Business surveyed 5,000 organisations and revealed that those in management positions regard road, rail and broadband as equally critical to the future of their operations.

London firms were found to place a particular emphasis on the benefits of improved broadband services, while those in other southern regions and Wales also held internet services in high regard.

Andrew McGrath, Executive Director of Commercial at Virgin Media Business, said: "Global figureheads from prime ministers to leading business owners have identified better communications infrastructure, such as fibre-optic networks, as the linchpin for improving the global economy."

The release of the study has come after Virgin Media confirmed the launch of its new business partner programme, which is designed to help firms take advantage of growth opportunities related to the increasing popularity of business data.
