Recent data on broadband internet speeds published by Ofcom showed that there were huge discrepancies between internet service providers' advertised download speeds and the data transfer rates that were actually achieved in the real world.
However, according to broadband bundle specialist TalkTalk, Ofcom's broadband pronouncements are not always bad news.
In fact, according to recent Ofcom research into broadband speeds, download rates increased by five per cent between May and December last year.
In a blog post, Dido Harding, Chief Executive Officer of TalkTalk, said: "Ofcom's latest broadband speed report shows that Britain's broadband is getting faster, and what's more, it confirms that TalkTalk customers are getting faster speeds than those with BT, PlusNet or Sky."
She added that the figures are great news for end users and show that ISPs are committed to improving service levels in the industry.
This week, Ofcom demanded that TalkTalk improve its customer service after the regulator received a series of complaints from customers who were over-charged or charged for services they did not receive.
