The UK has just one representative in a new chart detailing the 100 world cities with the fastest average broadband speeds.
Bradford, West Yorkshire, came in at number 99 in the poll, conducted by web content management firm Akamai.
At 6.03Mb, the city recorded the highest average download speeds in the UK, and narrowly crept into the global elite.
A trio of other English towns and cities – Southampton, Luton and Oldham – narrowly missed out on the top 100, although London was some way back with an average download speed of 3.5Mb.
David Belson, Akamai's Director of Market Intelligence, told V3.co.uk: "Sometimes a city can jump up if there's an aggregation point in the area where networks meet, but that doesn't appear to be the case in Bradford.
"It seems reasonable to conclude that it's just that the broadband there is particularly good."
According to Akamai, the mean UK broadband speed rose to 4.3Mb during the fourth quarter of 2010.
