Internet service provider (ISP) TalkTalk experienced a network failure on Friday May 6th, which caused several hours' broadband downtime.

The firm was hit by a service outage on Friday morning, which prevented consumers from accessing its website and also the MyAccount and Tiscali Business portals, reports ISPreview.co.uk.

Some TalkTalk subscribers were affected by loss of service, according to a statement published on the TalkTalk.co.uk domain.

However, the ISP said the issue was quickly resolved, meaning TalkTalk consumers saw their web and home phone services restored.

The ISP apologised for the outage, which was resolved by around 1300 BST.

A number of ISPs have been hit by technical problems in recent months, including BT, which experienced a loss of broadband services in parts of Scotland and the north of England.
