There are now more than one million premium wireless broadband hotspots on the iPass global network, it has been reported.

As reported by ISPreview.co.uk, a number of other providers' hotspots are now accessible to users via the iPass Global Broadband Roaming network.

As recently as five years ago, iPass customers could log on to the internet at just 40,000 individual hotspots.

Evan Kaplan, President and Chief Executive at the connectivity provider, said Wi-Fi is becoming increasingly important as the use of mobile devices increases.

"We live in a real-time connected world where devices are cheap but networks are increasingly expensive," he stated.

"It's not only the bring-your-own-device conundrum that needs to be resolved; enterprises need to bring their own Wi-Fi network."
