Sky Sports subscribers will be able to enjoy live Football League coverage through to 2018, after a new broadcast deal was agreed.

The Football League and Sky Sports have agreed a new five-year partnership, which extends the current arrangement by three years and sees Sky Bet become the league's new headline sponsor.

From the 2015-16 season, Sky Sports viewers will be able to watch an extra 37 live matches per season - taking the total to 148 each year.

Sky Sports will show 112 matches per season from across the Sky Bet Football League, all three divisional play-offs, 15 matches from the Capital One Cup and at least three games from the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

Barney Francis, Managing Director of Sky Sports, said the agreement offers Sky Sports viewers "more matches, more choice and more drama" from all 72 clubs across the Football League.

"Extending our Football League coverage until 2018 is excellent news for our viewers who have never enjoyed such a strong choice of live football coverage," he claimed.

"We are proud of our partnership with the Football League and can look forward to even more drama and excitement from its competitions for another five seasons."
